This beautiful clay pot is made in San Marcos Tlapazola by the collective Mujeres del Barro Rojo. It is safe for food and will create delicious plating to any food dish or display. This delicate piece should be washed by hand, and beautiful patina is formed with continued use. Perfect to cook beans and rice.

8.25" x 6.25" x 2.75" stovetop and safe. Must cure before use.

Approximate size. Due to its handmade nature, size and imperfections vary slightly.

The Zapotec women who create these pieces believe in the power of clay and its ability to listen and transform. They start with digging out soil and carrying it on their backs back to their studio. This red soil is then mixed with water and sand to make a simple clay that is free-formed without any use of a wheel, then cooked in open air.
